Freestanding patio covers are a great way to add useable outdoor space to your yard. Engineering requirements are more strict because the home is not helping to support the patio cover. This adds cost. We can help you get the most out of your freestanding cover with correct design and placement. Setbacks are an important consideration also. A 5’ minimum is standard in most areas but it may be up to 10’ or even 20’ depending on city zoning & HOA requirements.
Freestanding covers are required to have steel posts set into large footings, no matter what the size. Small, four post designs can limit useable space while adding cost. This is why we created the two post design.
